Choosing The Right Recruiter

You’ve decided it’s time to start looking for a new job, or a step up in your career, so what is the next step?

You will no doubt take to your favourite online job boards to find your next job, but before you can even start sifting through the available positions, you need to recognise which of the millions of recruitment companies is the right one for you.

It’s important to find a recruiter who understands the industry in which you work. Therefore, if you work in a specialist industry you need to find a recruiter which covers that area and works closely with major companies in that field.

The advantages of using a specialist recruiter:

Specialist recruiters are proactive in their search for roles, which means jobs are sometimes advertised with them before going on to traditional job sites, so if you are going specialist, you could get in before other candidates.
You are also less likely to go up against hundreds and thousands of other applicants, which will increase your chances of getting to the interview stage.
They are more likely to understand your requirements and offer expert career advice.
You can benefit from useful guidance and support during the interview process.

Do your homework. Make sure the recruiters you use are genuine specialists in their field, are industry recognised (such as REC accreditation), and have a good track record with the type of role you are going for.

Choosing the right recruiter can often be the difference between you landing your perfect next job, or not.
